    The Story

"He has put a knife on the things that held us together and we have fallen apart."

Typically, Africa was portrayed by non-Africans as a singular place of mystery at best, or backward savagery at worst. Things Fall Apart shows colonialism from the native perspective. Instead of Africa as a monolithic culture, we instead see the Igbo people represented with autonomy, culture, and dignity in literature written from its own perspective. Even going so far as to co-opt a famous European poem to its own ends. As such, the novel paved the way for African writers throughout the continent and sparked a broader interest in diverse perspectives realised in the art based on social justice to this day. It was a monumental addition to world literature and added to the chorus of anti-imperial sentiment built throughout the 20th century.

We wanted our bookish print to express the brutal consequences of a belligerent and arrogant invasion whilst striving to maintain a culture lost. portrayed in Things Fall Apart We use the Igbo art of ritual masks without their wearers and an a Things Fall Apart quote lamenting loss caused by violence. This results in a vintage book poster perfect for readers and book lovers looking for literary gifts to curate an authentic bookish decor experience that stays true to the themes of this classic book.

Our bookish art uses a Things Fall Apart quote and African mask art to create an anti-colonial social justice book poster - a perfect book lover gift for any reading corner!

Take Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart beyond the shelf with our literary poster. This book cover art print gives voice to any home décor - a great bookish gift for the book nook of book lovers!
