Our The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin Title Page art print inspired by Beatrix Potter remembers the mischief, riddles and consequences of Nutkin’s visit to Owl Island.
Part of our Title Page collection, this literary print pairs words and imagery to express what the story means to us. It is our interpretation of the work, rather than a reproduction of a published book cover.
The Story Behind the Design
"This is a tale about a tail - a tail that belonged to a little red squirrel, and his name was Nutkin."
Squirrel Nutkin is one of many squirrels that travels to Owl Island to partake in nut-collecting. Nutkin decides to chance his luck by taunting the owl with riddles but his immunity to consequences only lasts so long before the owl takes his turn – relieving Nutkin of his tail.
Our art print uses a Beatrix Potter quote and illustration of Nutkin's original bushy tail before it was robbed from him.
