The Story
"Dear Maria, since friend Nutcracker is so great a favourite with you, I place him under your particular care and keeping."
Known for its famous adaptation as a ballet, the original tale features a darker theme with no Sugar Plum Fairy to be seen. Whilst the Mouse King has no qualms about killing mouse children, the original story was kind enough to bring us the fairy tale ending we all recognise - the breaking of a curse and the transformation of the Nutcracker into marriage material.
Classic fairy tale contrivances aside, we chose to ignore that Maria ends up marrying her Christmas present. We wanted our bookish print to capture that childhood present-opening magic that slowly disappears as we grow up. This results in a vintage book poster perfect for readers and book lovers looking for literary gifts to curate an authentic bookish Christmas decor experience that stays true to the themes of this classic literature.
Take E. T. A. Hoffmann's The Nutcracker and the Mouse King beyond the shelf with our literary poster. This book cover art print adds festive magic to any home décor and makes a wonderful gift for book lovers.
