Rooibos gives this blend a mellow body, with apple and raspberry bringing rounded fruit flavour rather than sharp tartness. Madagascar vanilla lends a soft, dessert-like sweetness, while rose petals add a delicate fragrant accent. The result is an apple-crumble-inspired cup that feels generous and comforting.

Some swear by sharp apples. Others insist upon berries, fragrant flowers or a particularly generous measure of vanilla. Every innkeeper maintains that theirs is the original recipe, and most are prepared to argue the matter until closing time.

The Storyport merchants spent several weeks investigating these competing claims, an undertaking which required an astonishing number of second helpings. 

They brought back Innkeeper's Crumble, a much-loved apple-and-raspberry version combining elements of all the regions of Aldermere.
