The Story
"'It's a long way, John said slowly. 'ain't it? It's a hard way, It's uphill all the way.'"
Baldwin's first novel shows us the difficulties of belonging: we may not agree, or even may suffer from what brings us together but we are, at least, together. To turn one's back, as Baldwin did on his church is double-edged and may be, at that moment, just as damaging as sticking with something you feel is wrong. Baldwin's life (and work) shows us the tension between belonging and calling for change.
Our literary print aims to capture this tension, specifically in the difficulty of walking away from something you know to be damaging - something we all must face to some degree. We use a James Baldwin quote expressing the difficulty of the long road and use Harlem Renaissance artwork of a church to once again highlight the complex tension between status-quo and change. This results in a vintage book poster perfect for readers and booklovers looking for literary gifts to curate an authentic bookish decor experience that stays true to the themes of this literary classic - perfect for any reading corner.
Take James Baldwin's Go Tell It on the Mountain beyond the shelf with our bookish print. This book cover art print brings community to any home décor - a great bookish gift for the book nook of book lovers!
