The Merchant's Dispatch

From the World of A Midsummer Night's Dream

After a long day’s trading in Athens, the Storyport merchants were offered a pot of tea of blooming fragrant leaves of different colours and shapes. Trusting and eager, they drank beneath an open window discussing the following day’s business.

When they next opened their eyes, they were lying among woodland flowers under a moonlit sky. Nearby, what can only be described as a regal fairy was tenderly scratching the ears of a weaver with a donkey’s head, while her subjects hurried to fulfil his increasingly particular requests. The merchants watched quietly.

Birdsong woke them in their lodgings, with the empty pot still on the table. They agreed It was past their wits to say what dream it was, or if it was but a dream at all.

They were, however, sufficiently impressed by the sleep that followed their evening cup to arrange a regular supply.
