The Merchant's Dispatch

From the Great Desert Crossing

The Storyport merchants were assured that crossing the desert would take three days.

On the fifth, they began to suspect their guide was using a rather optimistic map.

At last they encountered a caravan moving across the dunes. They warned merchants that it was best to walk without rhythm to avoid attracting the worm, before serving a fragrant, ginger-and-pepper spice infusion, explaining that the desert had little patience for timid flavours.

The merchants requested a supply.

The asking price was outrageous, and several hours of bargaining followed.

They eventually agreed to exchange three chests of goods in and the services of a considerably better cartographer.
