The Storyport merchants arrived in the Carpathians shortly before sunset, despite having been warned by several villagers to turn back.

A black carriage carried them along the mountain road to a castle whose owner had expressed considerable interest in their wares.

Their host, unable to meet them till dusk, was impeccably courteous. He examined the deep crimson tea with great appreciation before suggesting the inclusion of more exotic ingredients from his own store room before sampling.

When the castle's clocks struck midnight, they decided that the negotiations had reached a satisfactory conclusion.

Their host invited them to stay until morning. The merchants thanked him warmly, and carefully declined. They settled their account and left with remarkable haste.
