The Story

Anne of Green Gables continues to inspire generations of readers. It is both classic and contemporary in its relatable themes and growing pains - particularly for those who love books. With our Title Page covering a more classic interpretation of Anne, we wanted to use our watercolour for a more contemporary take on the story. We draw on Anne's gratitude for the world expressed by one of her thoughts: "Dear old world, you are very lovely, and I am glad to be alive in you."

When we think of Anne of Green Gables we think of a countryside filled with oranges and fading greens and so we used the beginning of Autumn to create a scene worthy of Anne's thoughts.  The scenery of the print takes on a mystical Autumnal quality, Anne seems in communion with the world with trees fill with orange leaves, and greens become so earthy they begin to colour the sky. Indeed, this Anne of Green Gables literary poster expresses our 'Dear Old World'.
